And early in the morning he cameagaininto the temple,andall the peoplecameuntohim;and he sat down, and taughtthem.

And the scribesandPhariseesbroughtuntohim a womantakeninadultery;and when they had setherin the midst,

They say unto him,Master,thiswoman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

NowMosesin the lawcommandedus, that such should be stoned: butwhatsayestthou?

This they said, temptinghim,that they might have to accusehim.ButJesusstoopeddown, and with his fingerwroteon the ground, as though he heard them not.

Sowhen they continuedaskinghim, he lifted up himself, and saiduntothem,He that is without sin among you, let himfirstcast a stoneather.

Andagain he stoopeddown, and wroteon the ground.

And they which heardit, being convictedby their own conscience, went out one by one,beginningat the eldest, even unto the last:andJesus was leftalone,and the womanstandingin the midst.

WhenJesus had lifted up himself, andsawnonebut the woman, he said unto her,Woman,wherearethosethineaccusers?hath no mancondemnedthee?

Shesaid, No man,Lord.AndJesussaid unto her,NeitherdoIcondemnthee:go, andsin no more.

ThenspakeJesusagain unto them,saying, Iam the light of the world: he that followethmeshallnotwalkindarkness,but shall have the light of life.

The Phariseesthereforesaid unto him,Thou bearest recordofthyself;thyrecordisnottrue.

Jesusansweredandsaid unto them,ThoughI bear recordofmyself, yet myrecordistrue:for I knowwhence I came, andwhither I go; butyecannottellwhence I come, andwhither I go.
