Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple
Just as they were entering through the gate at which he lay, he looked at them; and though they were strangers to him, he concluded they were Israelites by their going into the temple at that time:

asked an alms;
of them; prayed them to give him something for his relief and support.

2 E, era carregado um homem, coxo de nascença, o qual todos os dias punham � porta do templo, chamada Formosa, para pedir esmolas aos que entravam.
3 Ora, vendo ele a Pedro e João, que iam entrando no templo, pediu que lhe dessem uma esmola.
4 E Pedro, com João, fitando os olhos nele, disse: Olha para nós.
5 E ele os olhava atentamente, esperando receber deles alguma coisa.
