Eagles in the Bible Remind Us God Sees and Cares for Us

Instead of losing a layer of feathers, God lifts the burden of our sins, heals our diseases, redeems our lives, crowns us with love and compassion, satisfies our desires with good things, and renews us like an eagle. There are days, like the one my daughter will revisit annually now, which feel like they age us. It will forever be one of those days that feels a year long in and of itself. But the Lord can reverse the effect of a day like that, not only the inaugural experience, but again and again as its anniversary rolls around annually. God is faithful to renew our strength.
God sees what’s happening on this earth. When people ask, “why does a good and loving God let bad things happen, especially to good people who follow the Lord,” we can hold onto this promise of His faithfulness. He does not sit idle. There are many passages in Scripture which talk about the army of God, and armies of angels. There are angels watching over us, and the mighty hand of God, Himself, is in control.
The eagle is not only inspirational, it is fierce. “This ‘ravenous bird’ is a symbol of those nations whom God employs and sends forth to do a work of destruction, sweeping away whatever is decaying and putrescent,” Easton’s Bible Dictionary informs. Here are the verses which were listed next to this description for eagles:
God does not cause bad things to happen. We slip into our own set of consequences when we make bad decisions, and He allows us to grow from it. We also live in a fallen world full of pain, tragedy, injustice, disease, and war. The curse of sin is often the cause of our plight. He does not turn a blind eye to any of it. He is the God of justice and mercy. He sees us.
The eagle’s presence in the pages of Scripture is as purposefully placed as the Lord created every feather of its being. Each element of God’s creation is purposeful. When we see an eagle soar over us in the sky, we can be reminded of God’s faithfulness to see, care for, and strengthen us. The miraculous detail in every note of His creation points back to Him. Even the great bald eagle soars through the sky to bring glory to the Lord.
