God Leads Us with Wisdom

In this four-week parenting Bible study, we will explore the ways God’s word guides us as we strive to raise children who love the Lord with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength! In this part 2, we will look at how God leads us with wisdom. For part 1, click here. For part 3, click here.

As we’ve had to make big and small choices on this parenting journey, this set of scriptures has helped lead us towards God’s way. When we choose how to educate our kids we want them to be able to know God and make him known, which has led us to make counter cultural choices when it comes to how we have chosen to educate our kids.

Now we are making choices about how we use media and what devices we have in our home. We want our kids to live without crushing anxiety that makes it hard to love God and others well, so we have set a high standard in our home when it comes to technology use. While they may not always like that they aren’t getting smartphones or social media like their friends, they understand that in our home, the goal is to love God and love others, making it vital that we protect our kids from the damaging powers of these technologies until they are fully developed.

When we made the decision to open our home to Foster, the family conversation was about what God wanted for our family. We agreed together that God wanted to love the least of these around us in this really hands-on kind of way. Our kids have embraced the mission God has given us to love others as ourselves and through foster care and adoption they are able to understand a little more clearly what God’s unconditional love really looks like.

Proverbs 1:20 says, “Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice.” Do you hear her? Has your family taken time to seek her out? Thankfully God promises to lead us with his knowledge and wisdom all we have to do is ask for it!

Father, I thank you that your wisdom cries out to us! It’s active in our lives, showing us your ways and teaching us your path. Guide us in your truth as parents. Give us a Heaven-focused vision to work towards as parents that we can impart to our children. Make clear each next right step for us and bring our path back into alignment with your ways if we have wandered away from your calling for our lives. We thank you that you are so faithful to gently lead us towards you. Amen.

Spend time contemplating what goals you are working towards as parents and evaluate if your family choices align with those goals. Ask God to guide you towards him in all things.

Write out a family vision/verse/prayer that you recite often with your kids.
