20:7 David was confident of victory because he did not trust in military might (33:16-18) but in the “name of the LORD our God.” Since the “name” refers to the attributes (Ex 34:5-7; Is 9:6), the object of David’s faith was the person and works of Yahweh. The word translated “take pride” is literally “keep in remembrance, make mention of, ponder”—he built his confidence by meditating on the nature of God.
