20:7 David was confident of victory because he did not trust in military might (33:16-18) but in the ā€œname of the LORD our God.ā€ Since the ā€œnameā€ refers to the attributes (Ex 34:5-7; Is 9:6), the object of David’s faith was the person and works of Yahweh. The word translated ā€œtake prideā€ is literally ā€œkeep in remembrance, make mention of, ponderā€ā€”he built his confidence by meditating on the nature of God.
