Replica of one of the 21 letters found in or near the ruins of Lachish between 1935 and 1938. The so-called Lachish Letters were inscriptions on storage jars that date to 588-586 BC, the period during which the Babylonians attacked the fortified cities of Judah, including Jerusalem. The Lachish Letters provide a view of these events that complements those of Jeremiah.
