after him. What we find here in writing, is an abstract of what he preached, during the reign of three kings.The scope of all is,
- To convince Israel and Judah of their sins, and of the judgments of God ready to break in upon them;
- To comfort the righteous with promises of mercy and deliverance, especially with an assurance of the coming of the Messiah.
