Mínshùjì 3

1 Yēhéhuá zaì Xīnǎi shān xiǎoyù Móxī de rìzi , Yàlún hé Móxī de hòudaì rú xià ,

2 Yàlún de érzi , zhǎngzǐ míng jiào Nádā , hái yǒu Yàbǐhù , YǐlìYàsā , Yǐtāmǎ .

3 Zhè shì Yàlún érzi de míngzi , dōu shì shòu gāo de jìsī , shì Móxī jiào tāmen chéngjiē shèng zhí gōng jìsī zhífèn de .

4 Nádā , Yàbǐhù zaì Xīnǎi de kuàngyĕ xiàng Yēhéhuá xiàn fán huǒ de shíhou jiù sǐ zaì Yēhéhuá miànqián le . tāmen yĕ méiyǒu érzi . YǐlìYàsā , Yǐtāmǎ zaì tāmende fùqin Yàlún miànqián gōng jìsī de zhífèn .

5 Yēhéhuá xiǎoyù Móxī shuō ,

6 Nǐ shǐ Lìwèi zhīpaì jìn qián lái , zhàn zaì jìsī Yàlún miànqián hǎo fúshì tā ,

7 Tì tā hé huì zhòng zaì huì mù qián shǒu suǒ fēnfu de , bànlǐ zhàngmù de shì .

8 Yòu yào kānshǒu huì mù de qìjù , bìng shǒu suǒ fēnfu Yǐsèliè rén de , bànlǐ zhàngmù de shì .

9 Nǐ yào jiàng Lìwèi rén gĕi Yàlún hé tāde érzi , yīnwei tāmen shì cóng Yǐsèliè rén zhōng xuǎn chūlai gĕi tāde .

10 Nǐ yào zhǔfu Yàlún hé tāde érzi jǐn shǒu zìjǐ jìsī de zhírèn . jìn qián lái de waìrén bì beì zhìsǐ .

11 Yēhéhuá xiǎoyù Móxī shuō ,

12 Wǒ cóng Yǐsèliè rén zhōng jiǎnxuǎn le Lìwèi rén , daìtì Yǐsèliè rén yīqiè tóushēng de . Lìwèi rén yào guī wǒ .

13 Yīnwei fán tóushēng de shì wǒde . wǒ zaì Āijí dì jī shā yīqiè tóushēng de nà rì jiù bǎ Yǐsèliè zhōng yīqiè tóushēng de , lián rén daì shēngchù dōu fēnbié wéi shèng guī wǒ . tāmen déng yào shǔ wǒ . wǒ shì Yēhéhuá .

14 Yēhéhuá zaì Xīnǎi de kuàngyĕ xiǎoyù Móxī shuō ,

15 Nǐ yào zhào Lìwèi rén de zōngzú , jia shì shǔ diǎn tāmen . fán yī gè yuè yǐwaì de nánzǐ dōu yào shǔ diǎn .

16 Yúshì Móxī zhào Yēhéhuá suǒ fēnfu de shǔ diǎn tāmen .

17 Lìwèi zhòng zǐ de míngzi shì Géshùn , Gēxiá , Mǐlālì .

18 Géshùn de érzi , àn zhe jia shì , shì Lìní , Shìmĕi .

19 Gēxiá de érzi , àn zhe jia shì , shì Ànlán , Yǐsīhā , Xībǎilún , Wūxuē .

20 Mǐlālì de érzi , àn zhe jia shì , shì Mālì , Mǔshì . zhèxie àn zhe zōngzú shì Lìwèi rén de jia shì .

21 Shǔ Géshùn de , yǒu Lìní zú , Shìmĕi zú . zhè shì Géshùn de èr zú .

22 Qízhōng beì shǔ , cóng yī gè yuè yǐwaì suǒyǒude nánzǐ gōng yǒu qī qiā wǔ bǎi míng .

23 Zhè Géshùn de èr zú yào zaì zhàngmù hòu xībiān ān yíng .

24 Lā yī lè de érzi Yǐlìyǎ sà zuò Géshùn rén zōngzú de shǒulǐng .

25 Géshùn de zǐsūn zaì huì mù zhōng suǒ yào kānshǒu de , jiù shì zhàngmù hé zhàopéng , bìng zhàopéng de gaì yǔ huì mù de ménlián ,

26 Yuànzi de wéizi hé ménlián ( yuànzi shì wéi zhàngmù hé tán de ) , bìng yīqiè shǐyòng de shéngzi .

27 Shǔ Gēxiá de , yǒu Ànlán zú , Yǐsīhā zú , Xībǎilún zú , Wūxuē zú . zhè shì Gēxiá de zhū zú .

28 Àn suǒ yǒu nánzǐ de shùmù , cóng yī gè yuè yǐwaì kānshǒu shèng suǒ de , gōng yǒu bá qiā liù bǎi míng .

29 Gēxiá érzi de zhū zú yào zaì zhàngmù de nánbiān ān yíng .

30 Wūxuē de érzi Yǐlìsǎfǎn zuò Gēxiá zōngzú jia shì de shǒulǐng .

31 Tāmen suǒ yào kānshǒu de shì yuē jǔ , zhuōzi , dēngtái , liǎng zuò tán yǔ shèng suǒ neì shǐyòng de qìmǐn , bìng liánzi hé yīqiè shǐyòng zhī wù .

32 Jìsī Yàlún de érzi YǐlìYàsā zuò Lìwèi rén zhòng shǒulǐng de lǐng xiù , yào jiàn chá nàxiē kānshǒu shèng suǒ de rén .

33 Shǔ Mǐlālì de , yǒu Mālì zú , Mǔshì zú . zhè shì Mǐlālì de èr zú .

34 Tāmen beì shǔ de , àn suǒ yǒu nánzǐ de shùmù , cóng yī gè yuè yǐwaì de , gōng yǒu liù qiā èr bǎi míng .

35 Yà bǐ haì de érzi sū liè zuò Mǐlālì èr zōngzú de shǒulǐng . tāmen yào zaì zhàngmù de bĕibiān ān yíng .

36 Mǐlālì zǐsūn de zhífèn shì kānshǒu zhàngmù de bǎn , shuān , zhùzi , daì mǎo de zuò , hé zhàngmù yīqiè suǒ shǐyòng de qìjù ,

37 Yuànzi sìwéi de zhùzi , daì mǎo de zuò , juézi , hé shéngzi .

38 Zaì zhàngmù qián dōngbiān , xiàng rì chū zhī dì ān yíng de shì Móxī , Yàlún , hé Yàlún de érzi . tāmen kānshǒu shèng suǒ , tì Yǐsèliè rén shǒu Yēhéhuá suǒ fēnfu de . jìn qián lái de waìrén , bì beì zhìsǐ .

39 Fán beì shǔ de Lìwèi rén , jiù shì Móxī , Yàlún zhào Yēhéhuá fēnfu suǒ shǔ de , àn zhe jia shì , cóng yī gè yuè yǐwaì de nánzǐ , gōng yǒu èr wàn èr qiā míng .

40 Yēhéhuá duì Móxī shuō , nǐ yào cóng Yǐsèliè rén zhōng shǔ diǎn yī gè yuè yǐwaì , fán tóushēng de nánzǐ , bǎ tāmende míngzi jì xià .

41 Wǒ shì Yēhéhuá . nǐ yào jiǎnxuǎn Lìwèi rén guī wǒ , daìtì Yǐsèliè rén suǒ yǒu tóushēng de , yĕ qǔ Lìwèi rén de shēngchù daìtì Yǐsèliè suǒ yǒu tóushēng de shēngchù .

42 Móxī jiù zhào Yēhéhuá suǒ fēnfu de bǎ Yǐsèliè rén tóushēng de dōu shǔ diǎn le .

43 Àn rén míng de shùmù , cóng yī gè yuè yǐwaì , fán tóushēng de nánzǐ , gōng yǒu èr wàn èr qiā èr bǎi qī shí sān míng .

44 Yēhéhuá xiǎoyù Móxī shuō ,

45 Nǐ jiǎnxuǎn Lìwèi rén daìtì Yǐsèliè rén suǒ yǒu tóushēng de , yĕ qǔ Lìwèi rén de shēngchù daìtì Yǐsèliè rén de shēngchù . Lìwèi rén yào guī wǒ . wǒ shì Yēhéhuá .

46 Yǐsèliè rén zhōng tóushēng de nánzǐ Bǐlì wèi rén duō èr bǎi qī shí sān gè , bì dàng jiàng tāmen shú chūlai .

47 Nǐ yào àn rén dīng , zhào shèng suǒ de píng , mĕi rén qǔ shú yín wǔ Shĕkèlè ( yī Shĕkèlè shì èr shí jìla ) ,

48 Bǎ nà duō yú zhī rén de shú yín jiāo gĕi Yàlún hé tāde érzi .

49 Yúshì Móxī cóng nà beì Lìwèi rén suǒ shú yǐwaì de rén qǔ le shú yín .

50 Cóng Yǐsèliè rén tóushēng de suǒ qǔ zhī yín , àn shèng suǒ de píng , yǒu yī qiā sān bǎi liù shí wǔ Shĕkèlè .

51 Móxī zhào Yēhéhuá de huà bǎ zhè shú yín gĕi Yàlún hé tāde érzi , zhēng rú Yēhéhuá suǒ fēnfu de .

Mínshùjì 3 Commentary

Chapter 3

The sons of Aaron, The Levites taken instead of the first-born. (1-13) The Levites numbered by their families, Their duties. (14-39) The first-born are numbered. (40-51)

Verses 1-13 There was much work belonging to the priests' office, and there were now only Aaron and his two sons to do it; God appoints the Levites to attend them. Those whom God finds work for, he will find help for. The Levites were taken instead of the first-born. When He that made us, saves us, as the first-born of Israel were saved, we are laid under further obligations to serve him faithfully. God's right to us by redemption, confirms the right he has to us by creation.

Verses 14-39 The Levites were in three classes, according to the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari; and these were subdivided into families. The posterity of Moses were not at all honoured or privileged, but stood upon the level with other Levites; thus it was plain, that Moses did not seek the advancement of his own family, or to secure any honours to it. The tribe of Levi was by much the least of all the tribes. God's chosen are but a little flock in comparison with the world.

Verses 40-51 The number of the first-born, and that of the Levites, came near to each other. Known unto God are all his works beforehand; there is an exact proportion between them, and so it will appear, when they are compared together. The small number of first-born, over and above the number of the Levites, were to be redeemed, and the redemption-money given to Aaron. The church is called the church of the first-born, which is redeemed, not as they were, with silver and gold; but, being devoted by sin to the justice of God, is ransomed with the precious blood of the Son of God. All men are the Lord's by creation, and all true christians are his by redemption. Each should know his own post and duty; nor can any service required by such a Master be rightly accounted mean or hard.

INTRODUCTION TO NUMBERS 3

In this chapter an account is given of the genealogy of the priests and Levites, and of the gift of the Levites to the priests, of the numbering of them, and the service they were to perform; and first of the priests, the sons of Aaron, Nu 3:1-4; and then of the Levites, as given unto them, to wait upon them, and assist them, Nu 3:5-10; and these were taken instead of the firstborn, Nu 3:11-13; and ordered to be numbered, which was done accordingly by their families, Nu 3:14-20; and the sum of each is given, and the particular work assigned to them; of the Gershonites, Nu 3:21-26; of the Kohathites, Nu 3:27-32; of the Merarites, Nu 3:33-38; the sum total of them is given, Nu 3:39; then the firstborn of the children of Israel, from a month old are ordered to be numbered, and were, Nu 3:40-43; and these appearing to be more in number than the Levites, by two hundred seventy three a direction is given that the two hundred seventy three should be redeemed at the rate of five, shekels apiece, and the money paid to Aaron and his sons, Nu 3:44-48; which was accordingly done, Nu 3:49-51.
