Jesusthereforeagaingroaninginhimselfcomethto the grave*. It was a cave,and a stonelayuponit.

Jesussaid, Take ye away the stone.Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him,Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

Jesussaith unto her,Said Inot unto thee,that,if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

Then they took away the stone from the place where the deadwaslaid. AndJesusliftedup his eyes,andsaid, Father, I thanktheethat thou hast heardme.

AndIknewthat thou hearestmealways:butbecause of the peoplewhich stand by I said it, that they may believethatthou hast sentme.

And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loudvoice,Lazarus,comeforth.

And he that was dead came forth, boundhandandfoot with graveclothes:andhisface was bound about with a napkin.Jesussaith unto them,Loosehim,and let himgo.

Thenmanyof the JewswhichcametoMary,and had seen the things whichJesusdid, believedonhim.

Butsomeofthem went their waysto the Pharisees,andtoldthem what thingsJesus had done.

Thengathered the chief priestsand the Pharisees a council,andsaid, What do we? forthismandoethmanymiracles.

If we lethimthusalone, all men will believeonhim:and the Romans shall comeand take awaybothourplaceandnation.

Andone*ofthem, named Caiaphas,being the high priest that sameyear,said unto them,Yeknow nothing at all*,

Norconsiderthat it is expedient for us,thatoneman should diefor the people,and that the wholenationperishnot.

Andthis spake henotofhimself:butbeing high priestthatyear, he prophesiedthatJesusshoulddie for thatnation;

Andnot for thatnationonly,butthatalso he should gather togetherinone the children of God that were scattered abroad.

Thenfromthatday forth they took counsel together for toputhim to death.
