Watchandpray, that ye enternotintotemptation: the spiritindeed is willing,but the flesh is weak.

He went awayagainthe second time, and prayed, saying, O myFather,ifthiscupmaynot pass awayfromme,except I drinkit,thywill be done.

And he came and foundthemasleepagain:fortheireyeswereheavy.

And he leftthem, and went awayagain, and prayed* the third time,saying the samewords.

Then cometh hetohisdisciples,andsaith unto them,Sleep onnow,and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayedinto the hands of sinners.

Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betrayme.

Andwhileheyetspake, lo, Judas,one of the twelve,came, andwithhim a greatmultitudewithswordsandstaves,from the chief priestsandelders of the people.

Now he that betrayedhimgavethem a sign,saying, WhomsoeverI shall kiss, that sameishe:holdhimfast.

Andforthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master;andkissedhim.

AndJesussaid unto him,Friend,whereforeart thou come?Then came they, and laidhandsonJesus,andtookhim.
51
And,behold, one of them which were withJesus stretched out his hand, and drewhissword,andstruck a servant of the high priest's, and smote offhisear.
52
ThensaidJesus unto him,Put up againthyswordintohisplace:for all they that take the sword shall perishwith the sword.

Thinkestthouthat I cannot*nowpray to myFather,and he shall presently givememorethantwelvelegions of angels?

But howthen shall the scriptures be fulfilled, thatthus it mustbe?

In that samehoursaidJesus to the multitudes,Are ye come outasagainst a thiefwithswordsandstaves for to takeme? I satdaily*withyouteachingin the temple,and ye laidnohold on me.

Butallthis was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Thenall the disciplesforsookhim, and fled.

And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him awaytoCaiaphas the high priest,where the scribesand the elders were assembled.

ButPeterfollowedhim afar off*unto the high priest'spalace,andwentin, and satwith the servants, to see the end.

Now the chief priests,andelders,andall the council,sought false witnessagainstJesus,toputhim to death;
60
Butfoundnone:yea, though many false witnessescame, yet found theynone*. At the lastcametwo false witnesses,

And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God,and to builditinthreedays.

And the high priestarose, and said unto him, Answerest thounothing?what is it which these witness againstthee?

ButJesus held his peace. And the high priestanswered and said unto him, I adjuretheeby the livingGod,that thou telluswhetherthoube the Christ, the Son of God.

Jesussaith unto him,Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you,Hereaftershall ye see the Son of mansittingon the right hand of power,andcomingin the clouds of heaven.

Then the high priestrenthisclothes,saying*, He hath spoken blasphemy; whatfurtherneed have we of witnesses?behold,now ye have heardhisblasphemy.

Whatthinkye? They answeredandsaid, He isguilty of death.

Then did they spitinhisface,andbuffetedhim;and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ,Who is he that smotethee?

NowPetersatwithoutin the palace:andadamselcame unto him,saying, ThoualsowastwithJesus of Galilee.

But he deniedbefore them all,saying, I knownotwhat thou sayest.

And when he was gone outinto the porch,another maid sawhim,andsaid unto them that were there,This fellow wasalsowithJesus of Nazareth.

Andagain he deniedwith an oath*, I donotknow the man.

Andafter a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter,Surelythoualsoart one ofthem;for*thyspeechbewrayeththee*.

Then began he to curseand to swear, saying, I knownot the man.Andimmediately the cockcrew.

AndPeterremembered the word of Jesus,whichsaid unto him,Beforethecockcrow, thou shalt denymethrice.And he went out,andweptbitterly.
