Jeremiah 4:8

For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl
That is, because of this destruction threatened, which was so near at hand, and so sure and certain: for the fierce anger of the Lord is not turned back from us.
The Septuagint, Syriac, and Arabic versions, render it "from you" and some render it "from it" ^F21; from his purpose and design to destroy the Jews. Jarchi interprets this of Josiah, and his times, who, though he turned to the Lord with all his heart, yet the Lord turned not from the fierceness of his wrath and anger against Judah, ( 2 Kings 23:25 2 Kings 23:26 ) .

6 Elevez une bannière vers Sion, Fuyez, ne vous arrêtez pas! Car je fais venir du septentrion le malheur Et un grand désastre.

7 Le lion s'élance de son taillis, Le destructeur des nations est en marche, il a quitté son lieu, Pour ravager ton pays; Tes villes seront ruinées, il n'y aura plus d'habitants.

8 C'est pourquoi couvrez-vous de sacs, pleurez et gémissez; Car la colère ardente de l'Eternel ne se détourne pas de nous.

9 En ce jour-là, dit l'Eternel, Le roi et les chefs perdront courage, Les sacrificateurs seront étonnés, Et les prophètes stupéfaits.

10 Je dis: Ah! Seigneur Eternel! Tu as donc trompé ce peuple et Jérusalem, en disant: Vous aurez la paix! Et cependant l'épée menace leur vie.
