Psalms 109:20

20 May the Lord do these things to those who accuse me, to those who speak evil against me.

Psalms 109:20 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 109:20

Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the Lord
Who were so many Satans, as the word used signifies; and Judas particularly is called a devil; and of the same malevolent and diabolical disposition were the Jews in general, ( John 6:70 ) ( 8:44 ) and what is before imprecated upon them is the just recompence of reward for their hatred to Christ and ill usage of him.

And of them that speak evil against my soul;
or "life" F6; in order to take it away, as did the false witnesses that rose up against him, and the Jews who charged him with sedition and blasphemy.

Psalms 109:20 In-Context

18 He cursed others as often as he wore clothes. Cursing others filled his body and his life, like drinking water and using olive oil.
19 So let curses cover him like clothes and wrap around him like a belt."
20 May the Lord do these things to those who accuse me, to those who speak evil against me.
21 But you, Lord God, be kind to me so others will know you are good. Because your love is good, save me.
22 I am poor and helpless and very sad.
