Psalms 69:14

14 Rescue me from the mud; don’t let me sink any deeper! Save me from those who hate me, and pull me from these deep waters.

Psalms 69:14 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 69:14

Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink
In which he was sinking, ( Psalms 69:2 ) ; and accordingly he was delivered out of it, ( Psalms 11:2 ) ; even out of all the mire of sin, the sins of his people that were upon him, from which he was justified when raised from the dead; and so will appear without sin, when he comes a second time:

let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep
waters;
these phrases design the same, even the enemies of Christ; such that hated him, compared to deep waters: these are the floods of the ungodly, and the many waters out of which he was drawn and delivered, ( Psalms 18:4 Psalms 18:16 Psalms 18:17 ) .

Psalms 69:14 In-Context

12 I am the favorite topic of town gossip, and all the drunks sing about me.
13 But I keep praying to you, LORD, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation.
14 Rescue me from the mud; don’t let me sink any deeper! Save me from those who hate me, and pull me from these deep waters.
15 Don’t let the floods overwhelm me, or the deep waters swallow me, or the pit of death devour me.
16 Answer my prayers, O LORD, for your unfailing love is wonderful. Take care of me, for your mercy is so plentiful.
