2 Samuel 3:18

Now then do [it]
Make him your king, and I shall no longer oppose it as I have done:

for the Lord hath spoken of David;
concerning his being king, and the saviour of his people Israel:

saying, by the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel
out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their
enemies;
and which, though where recorded in so many words, yet was the sense of the promise of making him king, and the design of his unction; and besides they might have been spoken to Samuel, though not written; and which he might report, and so might pass from one to another to be generally known.

16 Palti la siguió hasta Bahurim, llorando todo el camino, por eso Abner le dijo: «¡Regresa a tu casa!». Así que Palti volvió a casa.

17 Mientras tanto, Abner había consultado con los ancianos de Israel y les dijo: «Desde hace tiempo ustedes han querido hacer a David su rey.

18 ¡Ahora es el momento! Pues el Señor
ha dicho: “Yo he elegido a David para que salve a mi pueblo Israel de manos de los filisteos y de sus demás enemigos”».

19 Abner también habló con los hombres de Benjamín. Después se fue a Hebrón para decirle a David que todo el pueblo de Israel y de Benjamín aceptaban apoyarlo.

20 Cuando Abner y veinte de sus hombres llegaron a Hebrón, David los recibió con un gran banquete.
