17 Se negaron a obedecerte y no se acordaron de los milagros que habías hecho a favor de ellos. En cambio, se pusieron tercos y nombraron a un líder para que los llevara de regreso a su esclavitud en Egipto; pero tú eres Dios de perdón, bondadoso y misericordioso, lento para enojarte y rico en amor inagotable. Nehemiah 9:17

And refused to obey
Though exhorted, admonished, and threatened, such was their obstinacy:

neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them;
in delivering them at the Red sea, in raining manna about them, and giving them water out of the rock:

but hardened their necks;
see the preceding verse:

and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage;
they not only proposed it, but determined upon it, which is reckoned the same as if they had done it, see ( Numbers 14:4 ) ,

but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to
anger, and of great kindness;
as he had proclaimed his name before Moses, and as the whole of his conduct towards the people of Israel abundantly shewed, see ( Exodus 34:6 Exodus 34:7 )

and forsookest them not;
when in the wilderness, where otherwise they must have perished, but still fed and protected them, notwithstanding their provocations.

15 »Les diste pan del cielo cuando tenían hambre y agua de la roca cuando tenían sed. Les ordenaste que fueran y tomaran posesión de la tierra que habías jurado darles.

16 »Sin embargo, nuestros antepasados fueron arrogantes y tercos, y no prestaron ninguna atención a tus mandatos.

18 ni siquiera cuando se hicieron un ídolo en forma de becerro y dijeron: “¡Este es tu dios que te sacó de Egipto!”. Cometieron terribles blasfemias.

19 »En tu gran misericordia no los abandonaste para que murieran en el desierto. La columna de nube todavía los guiaba de día, y la columna de fuego les mostraba el camino durante la noche.
