Salomón construye el templo

1 Salomón comenzó a construir el templo del SEÑOR en el cuarto año de su reinado en Israel, en el mes de zif, que es el mes segundo. Habían transcurrido cuatrocientos ochenta años desde que los israelitas salieron de Egipto.

2 El templo que el rey Salomón construyó para el SEÑOR medía veintisiete metros de largo por nueve metros de ancho y trece metros y medio de alto.^[a]

3 El vestíbulo de la nave central del templo medía también nueve metros de ancho y por el frente del templo sobresalía cuatro metros y medio.

4 Salomón también mandó colocar en el templo ventanales con celosías.

5 Alrededor del edificio, y contra las paredes de la nave central y del santuario interior, construyó un anexo con celdas laterales.

6 El piso inferior del anexo medía dos metros con veinticinco centímetros de ancho; el piso intermedio, dos metros con setenta centímetros, y el piso más alto, tres metros con quince centímetros. Salomón había mandado hacer salientes en el exterior del templo para que las vigas no se empotraran en la pared misma.

7 En la construcción del templo solo se emplearon piedras de cantera ya labradas, así que durante las obras no se oyó el ruido de martillos ni de piquetas, ni de ninguna otra herramienta.

INTRODUCTION TO FIRST KINGS 6

This chapter gives an account of the building of the temple, for which preparations were before made and begins with the time of its building, 1Ki 6:1; gives the dimensions of it and the porch before it, 1Ki 6:2,3; observes the windows in it and chambers about it, 1Ki 6:4-10; and while it was building, Solomon had a word from the Lord relative to it, 1Ki 6:11-14; and then the account goes on concerning the walls of the house, and the flooring of it, 1Ki 6:15-18; and the oracle in it, and the cherubim in that, 1Ki 6:19-30; and the doors into it, and the carved work of them, 1Ki 6:31-36; and the chapter is concluded with observing the time when it was begun and finished 1Ki 6:37,38.
