John 12:18

For this cause the people also met him
This was a principal reason, among others, which induced them to set out in the manner they did, with palm tree branches in their hands, and accost him as the king of Israel, when they met him, and hosanna'd him into the city:

for that they heard that he had done this miracle;
the witnesses were so many, and the proofs they gave so strong, that they firmly believed it: and this being a most amazing miracle, and which exceeded even any of the same kind; Jairus's daughter was but just dead, and the widow of Nain's son was not buried, when they were raised, but Lazarus had been dead and buried four days; it made a very strong impression upon the minds of the people, and engaged their attention to him, and belief in him.

16 Al principio, sus discípulos no entendieron lo que sucedía. Solo después de que Jesús fue glorificado se dieron cuenta de que se había cumplido en él lo que de él ya estaba escrito.

17 La gente que había estado con Jesús cuando él llamó a Lázaro del sepulcro y lo resucitó de entre los muertos, seguía difundiendo la noticia.

18 Muchos que se habían enterado de la señal realizada por Jesús salían a su encuentro.

19 Por eso los fariseos comentaban entre sí: «Como pueden ver, así no vamos a lograr nada. ¡Miren cómo lo sigue todo el mundo!»

20 Entre los que habían subido a adorar en la fiesta había algunos griegos.
