Romanos 4:9

9 ¿Acaso se ha reservado esta dicha solo para los que están circuncidados? ¿Acaso no es también para los gentiles?^[a] Hemos dicho que a Abraham se le tomó en cuenta la fe como justicia.

Romans 4:9

[Cometh] this blessedness then upon the circumcision [only]?
&c.] That is, upon the circumcised Jews; are they the only persons that partake of this happiness? the word "only" is rightly supplied, and is in the Claromontane exemplar used by Beza, and in the Vulgate Latin and Ethiopic versions:

or upon the uncircumcision also?
upon the uncircumcised Gentiles; do not they likewise share in this blessedness?

for we say, that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
The design of these words with the following, is to prove that the blessing of justification belongs to Gentiles as well as Jews, and that it is by faith, and not by circumcision; which is done by observing the state and condition Abraham was in when justified.

7 «¡Dichosos aquellosa quienes se les perdonan las transgresionesy se les cubren los pecados!

8 ¡Dichoso aquelcuyo pecado el Señor no tomará en cuenta!»

9 ¿Acaso se ha reservado esta dicha solo para los que están circuncidados? ¿Acaso no es también para los gentiles? Hemos dicho que a Abraham se le tomó en cuenta la fe como justicia.

10 ¿Bajo qué circunstancias sucedió esto? ¿Fue antes o después de ser circuncidado? ¡Antes, y no después!

11 Es más, cuando todavía no estaba circuncidado, recibió la señal de la circuncisión como sello de la justicia que se le había tomado en cuenta por la fe. Por tanto, Abraham es padre de todos los que creen, aunque no hayan sido circuncidados, y a estos se les toma en cuenta su fe como justicia.
